I was so happy to be out in nature yesterday shooting my bow again. I really need to move to a rural area before I go nuts. Too much concrete and asphalt where I live now. This bow is called a Martin Stick Bow. I made the arrows.

Axe and Knife Throwing
I got to work on axe and knife throwing on Saturday at an SCA event. Oh how I wish I had my own practice area, because I'm right on the verge of improving. I can hit the target 9 times out of 10. I just can't get much to stick. I have to work on the rotation. The highlight of my day was when I hit the target with a axe from 20 yards away and got it to stick. It wasn't a bull's eye but it was on there.

Maybe I've Been Sitting On The Fence
I hope you like the new banner.
I've decided to start making things to sell at archery events like quivers, atlatls, arm guards, pouches, and other goods. The first step was to get my own E-Z Up canopy because I got squeezed out of my boyfriend's. His arrow business is booming and it takes the whole booth to fit all his inventory. That's fine really because now I get to decorate the booth the way I want.
As much as I keep hoping to meet other women archers who are pagans, most of the ones I know aren't. I put out feelers but the minute the women I know leave the archery range to go to mass, I figure I'm barking up the wrong tree.

Thrown Weapons
I'm happy to say that I've rejoined the SCA to work on my fitness, and last Saturday I got authorized to do thrown weapons at their events. I got lessons from two women on how to throw axes, knives and spears. And I hope to bring my atlatl equipment to future practices, as they seem open to it out in Altavia. I feel like I am finally getting closer to my goals.
I also did archery at their event last Saturday. They had horses as well. I've never been able to afford one nor have I lived in a place that allows them, but I sure wish I did. They were handsome indeed.

Bowmaking Workshop in Pasedena yesterday

I taught 2 women to knit at yesterday's bowmaking gathering. Is knitting a survival skill? It is if you are freezing to death and need to know how to make sweaters, mittens and hats.
Then there are some photos of me with my new bow made by Richard Saffold and the last set of arrows I made.
Then there are some photos of the other archers at the event.
