Leather Pouch From Scraps

Leatherwork is one of those things I always wish I'd do more of. I have lots of leather scraps I've been saving for small projects. So I figured I better get with it and design a pouch.  I like different colors of leather all in one project, like a patchwork quilt. I know that isn't everyone's preference. I'm just a colorful individual, what can I say?

On another note, I was so mad when the new apartment complex owners (a faceless nameless corporation) ripped out the entire front yard for some future drought resistant garden.  So when this little gourd sprouted in the dry hard packed soil, I couldn't help cheering.  Of course it will be scraped away if and when they do plant, which will be sad, but for now I'm cheering for the last act of rebellion! I wonder how big it will get before something takes it out.

Martin Stick Bow

I was so happy to be out in nature yesterday shooting my bow again. I really need to move to a rural area before I go nuts.  Too much concrete and asphalt where I live now. This bow is called a Martin Stick Bow. I made the arrows.

This Made Me Laugh

I found this on Pinterest. I assume it's in reference to the Hunger Games.

Axe and Knife Throwing

I got to work on axe and knife throwing on Saturday at an SCA event. Oh how I wish I had my own practice area, because I'm right on the verge of improving. I can hit the target 9 times out of 10.  I just can't get much to stick. I have to work on the rotation. The highlight of my day was when I hit the target with a axe from 20 yards away and got it to stick. It wasn't a bull's eye but it was on there.

Axe Throwing

I'm happy to report that I threw an axe from 20 yards yesterday and it stuck! I'm sure that if I had a place to practice regularly and my own equipment I'd improve so much. With knives I stuck two in a row and I'm proud of that. I hit the target almost always but getting things to stick is another story. My aim is good. I need to work on my rotation.

Maybe I've Been Sitting On The Fence

I hope you like the new banner.
I've decided to start making things to sell at archery events like quivers, atlatls, arm guards, pouches, and other goods. The first step was to get my own E-Z Up canopy because I got squeezed out of my boyfriend's.  His arrow business is booming and it takes the whole booth to fit all his inventory. That's fine really because now I get to decorate the booth the way I want.

As much as I keep hoping to meet other women archers who are pagans, most of the ones I know aren't. I put out feelers but the minute the women I know leave the archery range to go to mass, I figure I'm barking up the wrong tree.
